Cochineal Pigment Painting

Learn about the cochineal insect and the carmine pigment that has been used throughout history to create art from the Renaissance to Indigenous textiles and more. Participants will use cochineal insects to make their own paint pigment and experiment with other organic materials to create different colors as they fabricate their Insecta-inspired work of art. This workshop includes a tour of the Insecta: Small Wonders of the World exhibit
For participants 17 years and older.
- All participants must be checked in and out by a guardian 18 years or older.
- Workshop age requirements vary depending on activity.
